This Rock Is Not My Home

I lost a friend last night. Her name was Teri.

We saw each other at church on Sundays and Wednesdays, but a great affection for one another began to blossom right after our first meeting. She was always positive and oh, so kind. Whatever she talked about, God was always the center.

She loved her family and they were always her first thought to care for them in any way she needed to. She knew God was her comfort and strength. There was no question.

My kids used to recite a poem about this earth not being our home. If you believe in the God of the Bible, it's not our home and we are just sojourners here. Heaven is our focus and living our lives in a way that attracts others to a merciful and loving God is our reason for being here.

This life is temporary, folks. These bodies that house our souls are fragile and won't last through the stress we bear on a daily basis, not to mention the poisons in our foods and the water sources and who knows what in the air we breath.

I love Psalm 84:1,2,and 4 because in it they sing.....

"How lovely are Your tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul yearns, yes, even pines and is homesick for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out and sing for joy to the living God.

Blessed-happy, fortunate, even to be envied- are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing your praises all the day long. Selah (pause, and calmly think of that).

So no, I didn't lose a friend, she is singing His praises all the day long!

I saw this awesome video about Christian the lion on Randy Alcorn's blog and he compared it to how we will be welcomed in Heaven. What a fantastic moment it will be!

Pass On the Truth

Isn't God good? Don't we have
far more than most? Don't you love
how he takes bad situations and
turns them into His glory?
How does he do that?
How does he love us that much?

For you have been my hope, O Lord,
my confidence since my youth. From birth
I have relied on You; you brought me forth
from my mother's womb. I will ever praise You!
Psalm 71:5-6

God has never forsaken me, even when I
did Him. How is that? And why would He
love me so much when I'm nothing and stupid
and always making wrong decisions?

But as for me, I will always have hope;
I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteousness,
of your salvation all day long,
though I know not it's measure.
Since my youth, O God, you have taught me,
and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
